Flip it! Transforming Challenging Behaviors is a 5-part series aimed to teach child care providers how to respond positively to everyday challenging behaviors. In this session, we will discuss feelings and their connection to children’s behavior. Participants will learn how to gently talk with children about their feelings and help them understand the negative emotions they are experiencing. By the end of the session, participants will understand how to get to the root cause of behaviors and support children’s abilities to identify their emotions.

This is an In-depth training for Teaching Staff, Family Child Care Providers, Prospective Providers or Students, Family, Friend, and Neighbor Care Providers.
Prior knowledge or experience needed:
- None
This training will cover:
- Relationships, Interactions, and Guidance: Participants will learn to identify the prerequisites of FLIP IT success, including having healthy relationships, expressing empathy with children and understanding ICK risk factors that contribute to challenging behavior. Participants will learn to identify feelings and why it is important to gently talk with children about what they are feeling.
