This is an Overview/Introductory training for Teaching Staff, Administration/Leadership Staff.
Prior knowledge or experience needed:

This training will cover:
  • Child Development and Learning: Understand the process of language acquisition.Discover developmentally appropriate ways to encourage language and literacy practice.Share strategies for supporting the oral language development of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.Examine examples of athome literacy development strategies if you are teaching online.Discuss ways to engage children in meaningful conversations.Talk about the relationship between play and learning.
  • Family and Community Engagement: Consider our own use of language and its impact on children.Explore innovative methods for supporting literacy development in early childhood education ECE environments.Review current ECE tools such as CA Foundations, DRDP, CA Curriculum Framework, CLASS, etc. and their relation to early language and literacy.Brainstorm ways to promote family support for language and literacy strategies at home.Participate in Professional Learning Communities PLC, where you will learn with other educat

Who Should Participate: All members of the teaching team and at least one managerial staff member who can support the practice. Educators from early childhood centers and family child care will work together!

Requirements:

Actively participate in 3 workshops, each lasting 3 hours (calendar details below).
Attend 3 Professional Learning Community (PLC) sessions, each lasting 1.5 hours.
Work with a coach: Your team will also have coaching time tailored to your needs.
