The early years of a child’s life are important for later health and development. Infants might not be able to run and play like the “big kids” but there’s lots they can do to keep their arms and legs moving to start developing essential motor skills. During this training, participants will learn why it is important for infants and toddlers to engage in movement, identify infant and toddler physical development milestones, reflect ways they can encourage and support physical activity and learn practical strategies and examples of developmentally appropriate toys to help increase movement opportunities for their infants.

This is an Overview/Introductory training for Teaching Staff, Administration/Leadership Staff, Parents/Families, Family Child Care Providers, Family, Friend, and Neighbor Care Providers.

  • Health, Safety, and Nutrition: Learn why it is important for infants and toddlers to engage in physical activity and movement Identify the infant and toddler physical development marks to be aware of at every stage Reflect how they can encourage and support physical activity and movement in their infants and toddlers Learn about practical strategies and examples of developmentally appropriate toys to help increase movement opportunities for infants and toddlers in their centers
